California Needs To Take Earthquake Prediction More Seriously – SF Examiner

The mainstream tends to regard most attempts at earthquake forecasting as pseudoscience. In this opinion piece, David Nabhan issues a call for action, noting there’s evidence to show that earthquakes are more likely to happen when lunar and solar gravitational effects are conjoined: “Not only did all these [Los Angeles area] quakes strike either at dawn or dusk, but two-thirds of them also occurred within 36 hours of the new- or full-moon phase…” Could this suggest a possible first step toward a simple seismic advisory for California?
