Alex Tsakiris is nothing if not consciousness-oriented, and this perspective automatically makes his interviews interesting. Firstly, Professor Diana Walsh Pasulka discusses the background experiences and people that led to her book American Cosmic: UFOs, Religion, Technology. She also touches, but does not elaborate, upon the matter of edits which moved publication back an inordinate amount of time. The comparison of the book’s odyssey as a “hero’s journey” proved unexpectedly intriguing. So was the “Breakaway Civilization” notion Tsakiris promoted–though not the “standard” idea people would entertain, and possibly somewhat overblown. With Alexis Brooks, The Intersection of Consciousness and UFO Journalism Tsakiris engages with a person who’s not afraid to keep asking and is never doctrinaire about her beliefs, while not afraid to disagree politely, either. Which all seems to support Ms. Brooks as an excellent host of “Higher Journeys Radio.” Brooks and Tsakiris find wanting much in current mainstream media treatments of ufology, and Brooks prophesies ill for the general future of “The News.” She also asserts that because of the Nimitz and other Naval/UFO encounters, the convergence of the mechanistic and experiential aspects of UFO events is “in your face right now.” This leads to a useful discussion.
