Flying Saucer Swindlers: Four Convictions – Blue Blurry Lines

Following on the heels of his highly-researched and fascinating study of “The Life & Legend of Otis T. Carr” at The Saucers That Time Forgot blog, Curt Collins reminds us of three other cases of fraudsters he’s profiled. The stories are all heavily illustrated and worthwhile. Hopefully swindlers aren’t involved in this next story, but You Could Own the NYC Rooftop where John Lennon Claimed to Spot a UFO. Well, maybe, explains Market Watch’s Claudine Zap, as the penthouse where Lennon and May Pang spent time in “doesn’t exist in its current form.” But what’s on the market looks charming and is “only” 5.5 million. About when Lennon stayed in that East Side New York building John Keel wrote A Letter to “Gray Barker’s Newsletter” #6. This Keel missive reflects the people with whom Keel interacted, and the comments has an interesting explanation for the origin of the word “STENDEK.” Fast backward eleven years to a 1965 Report from Hollywood (1). Here Keel gives his first impressions of Tinseltown, including that “Staring is a major preoccupation in Hollywood.” (WM)
