High Strangeness at the Mysterious Bradshaw Ranch – Mysterious Universe

How do otherwise ordinary, pedestrian, “commonplace places” and things become associated with paranormal phenomena? Brent Swancer regales us with an historical study of a “Skinwalker Ranch rival” that goes one beyond that better-known real estate: dinosaurs! Spanning the Ohio River between Gallipolis, Ohio, and Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the Silver Bridge was located in another area productive of strange happenings, most notably Mothman sightings. The Bridge’s demise is reflected in Special File–Volume Three (5): The Bridge Collapses, the Tale Continues. John Keel’s continuing adventures highlight this piece, with an important side bonus in a rare, 1968 picture of Lynn Catoe, significant in UFO history as compiler of an important UFO bibliography for none other than the Library of Congress. A pier on a riverbank became the scene for an iconic UFO event on October 11th of 1973. The experience and its sequelae changed the lives of the late Charles Hickson and then-19-year-old Calvin Parker. Doug Walker’s article tells how the notoriety of that pier and experience attached to Parker thereafter, Calvin saying “I’d move when people found out where I worked.” A MS Man Writes Book about His 1970s Alien Abduction tells how Parker feels “a large weight lifted off his shoulders” by finally getting Pascagoula–The Closest Encounter: My Story out.
