A committee investigating the recent EgyptAir tragedy has found the word ‘fire’ is heard on the cockpit voice recorder. The development came as the search for passengers remains ended.

The recordings are in line with data extracted on the plane’s other devices, which indicate the presence of smoke in the plane’s lavatory and avionics system, a source said.

A French research vessel has found what it believes to be wreckage from the doomed EgyptAir flight 804 which disappeared over the Mediterranean last month.

The EgyptAir flight, carrying 118 passengers and 17 crew members, was en route from Cairo to Beijing when it was forced to land in the town of Urgench, Uzbekistan.
