Euphoria over the rescue of three women gives way to questions about how their captivity went unnoticed for a decade.
Ashley Summers, pictured, was 14 years old on July 6, 2007, when she was reported missing from her home in the same neighborhood where two of the three women found on Monday – Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus – had vanished.
At the time of the offence, Opemipo Jaji (pictured), from Edmonton, north London, was being supervised by the probation service after a conviction for possessing indecent images of children.
Abdul Miah, 19, from Hull Street, Elswick, Newcastle, appeared at the city’s Crown Court via video-link and pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and one of robbery.
