A transformer explosion at an electric power substation in the New York City borough of Queens lit the night sky with a bright blue light on Thursday, mystifying some residents, but no one was injured.

Among the lawmakers planning to meet with GM’s Mary Barra are Democratic Senators Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Gary Peters of Michigan, according to the aides who asked not to be identified.
