Office for National Statistics data showed there were 5,691 fatalities linked to the virus in England and Wales in the week ending February 12, which was a 22 per cent dip from previous week.
Test and Trace data shows there were 106,474 new infections identified in the week to February 10, the same levels as in October. It was lower in the week to October 14 when 96,437 were identified.
