UFO-Sweden Memories – The UFO Cottage – Hakan Blomqvist's Blog

How about something pleasant for a change? Hakan Blomqvist recalls happier times in lieu of celebrating the 50-year anniversary of a major Swedish UFO group. This article provides context, maybe a bit of calm focus-shifting, and a smidge of sadness at the end, reminding us that life is not all wonderful–yet perhaps not entirely bad. Hakan follows with more Consolation for Isolated Ufologists. He takes us back ten years to an annual meeting of mostly older people, many of whom as youths had started the ufological fires burning in their country. We pivot hard to the United States and tragic times with A Letter to Lynn Catoe, December 17, 1967. John Keel penned/typed this missive just after the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant West Virginia collapsed on December 15, taking 46 human lives. That awful event punctuates the “mess” John believes is going on, and he thinks he’s likely “the first and only person to investigate the “Big Picture” in depth.” This important UFO document continues with A Letter to Lynn Catoe, December 17, 1967 (Continued). John drops a bombshell about “dirty tricks” he fears Ms. Catoe may have unknowingly made possible. With the benefits of historical hindsight about then and now, John clearly over-exaggerates the relative importance of his problems vis-a-vis other issues. (WM)
