A YOUNG girl was ‘put in an oven’ by a group of ‘witches’ during a campaign of abuse, a court was told. The child was one of a number of youngsters who allegedly suffered abuse.

Connecticut state Rep. Jane Garibay proposed the exonerations on Tuesday, after receiving letters from eighth- and ninth-generation relatives of the accused witches.

As a result of a petition, thousands accused of being witches under the Witchcraft Act (1563 to 1736) are set to have their names cleared. More than 85% of those convicted were women or girls.
